Quality from Engineering to Manufacturing: TILEMANN Achieves ISO 9001 Certification

TILEMANN GmbH has achieved certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. The certification by TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH covers the development, manufacture and sale of chains, chain components and sprockets for the mechanical engineering and conveyor systems industry.

The certification marks a new milestone in a quality-driven approach that has long shaped TILEMANN’s engineering and manufacturing. With more than 120 years of experience in precision chain manufacturing, TILEMANN combines in-house development and production with modern engineering, process monitoring and digital documentation.

Quality across the entire process

At TILEMANN, development and manufacturing go hand in hand. The company develops and manufactures its chains in-house, giving it direct control over quality, materials and processes. This enables TILEMANN to respond precisely to customer requirements and deliver reliable solutions across a wide range of industries.

The new certification adds independent confirmation at quality management level: TÜV SÜD has certified that TILEMANN has established and applies a quality management system that fulfils the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. Its scope covers development, manufacture and sales.

Engineering quality from the start

Quality begins long before a chain enters production.

TILEMANN develops its chains in-house, with engineering tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEM) forming part of the product development process.

FEM simulations are used to analyse stresses and load distribution in chain components, helping engineers optimise component geometry, material usage and load capacity while ensuring reliable performance under demanding operating conditions.

With its own research and development capabilities, TILEMANN also develops solutions for highly specialised applications. Project-specific chain designs and special constructions can be visualised in 3D.

From design to manufacturing

Engineering expertise continues directly into manufacturing. As an original equipment manufacturer, TILEMANN carries out its fabrication steps in-house, including heat treatment, machining, assembly, packaging and dispatch.

At its site in Essen, TILEMANN has continuously developed its manufacturing capabilities. Modern CNC machining centres, high-performance assembly presses and an automatically controlled corrosion protection system are part of the production environment.

Since 2023, an energy-efficient horizontal precision machining centre has been at the core of manufacturing, capable of machining workpieces exceeding one metre in diameter and weighing up to 1,200 kg. Parallel machining operations and multiple integrated tools ensure high flexibility and precision in component production.

Process control and traceability

Modern manufacturing technology is complemented by systematic process control. During assembly, for example, the press-fit forces of the pins are continuously measured to ensure that the fit remains within the specified range.

Advanced process monitoring and digital documentation ensure consistent quality standards and full traceability throughout the manufacturing process.

Together with in-house development and manufacturing, these documented processes show how quality is integrated across different stages of TILEMANN’s operations – from engineering through production and process monitoring.
