ADVENTURES IN FARAWAY LANDS

AUMUND GROUP, SCHADE Lagertechnik
It is the last decade of the 20th century: machine technology of enormous dimensions leaves the SCHADE Lagertechnik production facility. Dismantled into its component parts and transported for weeks by ship, it arrives in faraway worlds in Asia.
In 1996, a circular storage for bulk materials was built in Taiwan: The 360° rotation of the circular storage system allows for simultaneous stacking and reclaiming in a compact form under a protective hall construction. With a diameter of 120 metres and a capacity of 230,000 m3, it was the largest of its time.
Almost 10 years later, more than 7,000 kilometres away as the crow flies, the east coast of Australia became the home of another SCHADE giant. Portal reclaimers with a rail span of 52 metres and a reclaim performance of 3,100 tonnes per hour are used to store the coal in longitudinal storage. These monumental contemporary witnesses are still standing near the mines today, just waiting to be put back into operation for a second machine life.
Can the scale and performance of this SCHADE technology still be increased? Or will SCHADE (now part of the AUMUND Group) set new standards in storage technology, aiming for greater efficiency and diversity? Read more about this in our November issue …
